(A little about me)

This is my 10th year of teaching.  I am a veteran, having served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force.  I am also a Life Member of the Land O' Lakes Chapter of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters in Educational Technology from Michigan State University.  I am currently working on my Doctorate in Educational Psychology.  I won the 2005 Lamplighter Award as an Outstanding Educator in Kalkaska.  My wife, Barbara, is a supervisor of 28 years with the U.S. Postal Service.  We have two children, Joe, 35, and Erin, 30.  We are also the proud grandparents of Brock Alexander, age 7 of Marlow, Oklahoma and Zachary Quinn, age 5, of Spanaway, Washington.  We live on our 40 acre farm near Manistee Lake.  We have a 6 year old ball of furry energy named Dharma and 4 year old Bodhi the Wondercat. (see photos above).  I am sure you will be hearing stories about them all year long.  I love golf, organic gardening, computers, cooking, children, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, and did I say cooking?  If you have any recipes or gardening secrets (or are looking for another for your foursome) please contact me.  Please feel free to download and view my resume by clicking here.

I believe in children.  I am here to work for them.  I will work my hardest to ensure that each child receives the best instruction possible.  Not every child will succeed in the same way on the same day, but every child can succeed.  This is my goal.  I also believe in fair, but consistent, discipline.  I expect every child to be aware of their responsibilities and the goals of our class so that we can enjoy an exciting year of learning.  I will spare no effort to provide your child answers, provided they ask any questions they may have.

This website will provide much of the information most parents will need throughout the school year.  I also provide a monthly class newsletter, some of which the class themselves will publish.  In any event, if you have any questions I would expect you to contact me.  This can easily be done by email:  wizerman@hughes.net , phone:  258-9146, ext. 132 (work) 258-3424 (home), or through note or correspondence.  Much as you , I am sure, I do not want any surprises come mid-term or report card time.  I urge you to take advantage of this service.  I will meet with you any time that is convenient to you.

I view your child's education as a team effort between your child, you, and me.  I expect each parent to contact me should they have any questions.  I will be in contact with each of you several times during this school year in order to provide the best possible service.  This may include asking for volunteer services for activities such as parties, field trips, assemblies, and conferences, as needed.  I look forward to a very successful year with your child achieving the best of their potential.
